For the San Francisco Bay Area data, internal-internal trips are subdivided into garage-based trips and linked trips. Garage-based trips are those trips where the truck travels from its origin to its destination and returns to its origin. Linked trips involve departure from the origin and travel to several destinations before returning to the point of origin. Internal-internal port trips are either garage-based trips or linked trips whose origin or destination is the Port of Oakland.
